From our base in San Gimignano we made two fantastic day trips south. The first (on Tuesday) was about an hour's drive to the Abbey of San Galgano. The journey itself turned out to be a big part of the attraction - incredibly beautiful Tuscan scenery, nice winding roads, and little traffic.
